Keep Letters Personal when Bulk Mailing
If appropriate, the salutation line of your letter can include the individual’s first name such as ‘Dear John’, or more formally, using the title and last name such as ‘Dear Mr Smith’. As with the envelope, this information can be merged along with the address from your mailing list database.
If you can include a signature at the bottom of the letter it will help the personal one-to-one feel. Printing a signature in blue can give your letter a more authentic look. On larger direct mail campaigns you might have to use a window envelope as matching letters to envelopes may be unrealistic. Window envelopes take away a little of that ‘personal’ appearance but may be unavoidable on higher volumes.
